Cardboard box
Step 1
Prepare the Button Box
Take a small box or container and fill it with the buttons. This will be where the child can easily access and select buttons for the activity.
Step 2
Create the Threading Box
- Take a small cardboard box or a wooden box that will serve as the threading base.
- Using a marker or pen, mark the spot where the buttons will be threaded. Make small hole using scissors or a craft knife where the buttons will be threaded.
Step 3
Set Up the Tray
- Ensure that the tray is organized and visually appealing.
- Place the small button box and the threading box on a tray. Arrange them neatly so that your child can easily reach and use both containers.
Introducing the Activity to Your Child
Demonstrate the Activity
Sit with your child and demonstrate how to select a button from the small box, thread it in the threading box.
Show your child only the "Highway." Do not reveal additional methods to him and let him explore the activity on his own.
Encourage Exploration
Try to minimize intervention and let the magic happen. Even if the child performs the activity differently from how you demonstrated, let him explore and discover all the possibilities the activity has to offer.
Practice and Play
Allow your child to practice the activity at their own pace.
Extend the Learning
To add a layer of challenge, you can introduce patterns or sequences. Ask your child to thread buttons in a specific order based on size or color.
